Blog Post # 4

My group are probably a little bit more behind in the process then I wish we were. We have not started filming yet, but we have reserved cameras to start filming on Tuesday. So we will hopefully get all the filming done on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we will have some time to get the edditing done. I feel like most of the groups haven't strted filming yet, but I think if we work well and effective it will not be a problem. Since we haven't started filming we haven't had any obstacles or things that have worked out well since last post, so I'll get back to this after we have done the filming and editing! :)

Blog #3

The most challenging part so far in the process of making the PSA has been to find a way to show how Addorall effects you over time and how we could do this in an interesting way with our PSA. Since Addorall has some "good" effects in the begining when you start using them like more energy, you could loose some weight, and get better mood, this will change and start burning you out over time. We want to show that you could get really bad effects of Addorall if it is not prescribed for you and try to not put the "good" effects to much in center. We also struggled a bit with how we are going to orginize our shots, if we wanted some shots  to play forward, what kind of shots and what bad effects of the drug we wanted to have in our PSA. But we finally got it all sorted out today during the talk with John when we went through the screening, so now we're ready to start filming! :)

Public service announcements are not made to sell a product, but to give the audience a reminder or tell something that is important to the viewer and the society. We can see different PSAs on TV, hear them on the radio or read them in magazines or online. An example of an PSA is not to drunk drive, or wear seat belt. In these PSAs we often see the consequences of these actions.

For our PSA we were thinking about different drug abuse, but decided to have a PSA about prescription drugs, and then we choose Adoral. Our plan is to show a teenagers life that uses her brother prescribed drugs, and the consequences of this action. We will show her life over several days and how her body, mood, weight etc gets effected.

I will say our whole group contributed equal with sharing ideas, discussing, and talking about how we all imagine the PSA to be like and then we put our ideas together. We also talked to Neal and Tanya and got some feedback and worked to improve our idea. I think we have great team work and that our final idea has turned out very good.

I think our groups pitch went very well. We had practiced and decided who was going to say what, and it all worked out when we told about our pitch to the class. A good thing about our pitch is that we had an idea and worked out a lot of details and we all know exactly how we want our PSA to be like. We had some struggles when we were discussing how we wanted it to be like, since we wanted to show the abuse of prescription drug and not hard drugs. But I think we came up with a good solution.

I will say our massage is of interest for others since it is interesting to see that a drug that is prescribed to someone else can have huge consequences for others. Our target audience is students between 16-25 since this is the main ages that uses Adoral as a drug to get more energy to do everything they would like to do. But we think it's also important that parents and elder people know what's going on and that they can watch out for there children. I think our PSA will appeal to them since we are going to use teenager in our video and show a teenagers daily life. This way students hopefully will recognize themselves in our video and realise that even though you are tired and burned out you should not use any form of prescription drugs that is not prescribed for you.
