Blog Post #7

I really liked doing this prodject. During the period we worked on it I feel that I learned a lot! I learned how to plan ahead, edit, film and how important it was to always save when you edit something. I also learned that to make a Psa with four people we all had to sacrifice some of our personal activities to make it happen. We also figured out how important and helpful the Storyboard was to us. With a good and detaled storyboard the filming goes way faster. We also learned how to appreciate the trashcan on the computer, when we experienced that our final, done Psa was gone, and the Mtn people that helped us. Our faults and the people at MTN was the people that helped us learn and these experiences will make it easier when we start our next project, the documentary.
The most challenging aspect was to figure out how to express our knowledge in the best way. We used a lot of time to figure out how to do it and what kind of order we wanted our clips. I actually don't know how we could improve our PSA now, it's already to long, so maybe shorten it down, but then we would practically make a whole new video.

Blog Post # 4

My group are probably a little bit more behind in the process then I wish we were. We have not started filming yet, but we have reserved cameras to start filming on Tuesday. So we will hopefully get all the filming done on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we will have some time to get the edditing done. I feel like most of the groups haven't strted filming yet, but I think if we work well and effective it will not be a problem. Since we haven't started filming we haven't had any obstacles or things that have worked out well since last post, so I'll get back to this after we have done the filming and editing! :)

Blog #3

The most challenging part so far in the process of making the PSA has been to find a way to show how Addorall effects you over time and how we could do this in an interesting way with our PSA. Since Addorall has some "good" effects in the begining when you start using them like more energy, you could loose some weight, and get better mood, this will change and start burning you out over time. We want to show that you could get really bad effects of Addorall if it is not prescribed for you and try to not put the "good" effects to much in center. We also struggled a bit with how we are going to orginize our shots, if we wanted some shots  to play forward, what kind of shots and what bad effects of the drug we wanted to have in our PSA. But we finally got it all sorted out today during the talk with John when we went through the screening, so now we're ready to start filming! :)

Public service announcements are not made to sell a product, but to give the audience a reminder or tell something that is important to the viewer and the society. We can see different PSAs on TV, hear them on the radio or read them in magazines or online. An example of an PSA is not to drunk drive, or wear seat belt. In these PSAs we often see the consequences of these actions.

For our PSA we were thinking about different drug abuse, but decided to have a PSA about prescription drugs, and then we choose Adoral. Our plan is to show a teenagers life that uses her brother prescribed drugs, and the consequences of this action. We will show her life over several days and how her body, mood, weight etc gets effected.

I will say our whole group contributed equal with sharing ideas, discussing, and talking about how we all imagine the PSA to be like and then we put our ideas together. We also talked to Neal and Tanya and got some feedback and worked to improve our idea. I think we have great team work and that our final idea has turned out very good.

I think our groups pitch went very well. We had practiced and decided who was going to say what, and it all worked out when we told about our pitch to the class. A good thing about our pitch is that we had an idea and worked out a lot of details and we all know exactly how we want our PSA to be like. We had some struggles when we were discussing how we wanted it to be like, since we wanted to show the abuse of prescription drug and not hard drugs. But I think we came up with a good solution.

I will say our massage is of interest for others since it is interesting to see that a drug that is prescribed to someone else can have huge consequences for others. Our target audience is students between 16-25 since this is the main ages that uses Adoral as a drug to get more energy to do everything they would like to do. But we think it's also important that parents and elder people know what's going on and that they can watch out for there children. I think our PSA will appeal to them since we are going to use teenager in our video and show a teenagers daily life. This way students hopefully will recognize themselves in our video and realise that even though you are tired and burned out you should not use any form of prescription drugs that is not prescribed for you.

I choose to analyze Jenifer Lopez advertisement for her new perfume Deseco. They have choose to locate the picture in a tropic area, or at least try to make us believe that. I think they choose to locate the picture that way since it makes the perfume look exclusive and delicious. Since the perfume is for men they have choose to have the man in the back. I think they choose to put Jennifer in front since she is beautiful, the person behind the brand and to show that if you use this perfume you'll attract women. They have also choose to put the perfume in front on the picture which makes draws attention to the perfume and the bottle. I think this is a good way to make you aware of the perfume and when you're in a shop later you will recognize the bottle and maybe buy it.

I think the advertisement is affective since it's a nice picture, it looks exclusive and reminds me of summer and heat. The bottle has a cool design and I think guys could buy this. Or at least women would buy it for there men.

Advertisement plays a huge role in why I buy products. If you have seen an advertisement, heard about it and now how it looks like it's a way greater chance for me buying it. I almost never buy stuff that I have never heard of. If I see a good advertisement for make-up or cloths I'll probably check it out the next time I'm shopping. I think a lot of people think the same way as I do,  so good advertisements makes people buy their products.

Mtn Presentations

The first MTN presentation I learned how to see a PSA in a different way based on how the video is produced and why the producers choose to make the video that exact way. We watched several commercials/video's and talked about why and how they used the camera in a certain way, the colors, the shots, the massage etc. I think it was very interesting and important to learn, since we're actually going to do the same ourselves.

The second MTN presentation we learned about the pre-production process. We learned that the first thing you need to do is to have an idea. Then you need to do some brainstorming and make a synopsis. A synopsis is a short description of your idea and what your video is going to contain. Then you make a treatment where you write a more specific script. The script must contain everything you want to have in your video, like how your going to shoot, where, dialogs etc.

We also learnd that it's very important to make sure that you have permission from people in your video to film them, and that your allowed to film on certain spots. It's also very important to do a lot of research before you start filming.
